Vodafone Idea has announced Gurucharan Singh Gandhi as its new CHRO from April 1, 2025.
Gandhi is the Head of HR for Madura Fashion and Lifestyle, which is part of Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail. He took up this position in June 2019 after serving as the Head of Learning and Development for Aditya Birla Capital from December 2013 to May 2019.
Notably, Vodafone Idea is the result of the successful merger of the respective cellular ventures of Aditya Birla Group and Vodafone Group that went into effect on August 31, 2018. Given Gandhi’s long-standing relationship with the Aditya Birla Group, his shift to Vodafone Idea is a testament to the organization’s trust in his skills.
Prior to his time with the Aditya Birla Group, Gandhi worked for Max Life Insurance Company Limited, Bharti AXA Life Insurance, and Nicholas Piramal India Limited. With well over two decades of experience, his new position will present him with various opportunities to put his skills to use.
Vodafone Idea’s current CHRO, Suvamoy Roy Choudhary, took up the position in September 2018, shortly after the merger of Vodafone and Idea. Before that, he was Vodafone’s Director of Human Resources.
Choudhary will remain the CHRO of Vodafone and Idea until March 31, 2025, when he retires with a pension after almost a decade of service to the organization.
