Bajaj Auto has announced that it has reappointed Rajivnayan Rahulkumar “Rajiv” Bajaj as its Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Effective April 1, 2025, he will retain the position for the following five years. The reappointment has been approved by the board of directors and is subject to shareholder approval.
Rajiv Bajaj has been with Bajaj Auto since 1990 when he joined the Manufacturing and Supply Chain operations. In 1995, he switched to Research and Development (R&D) and Engineering and stayed there until 2000. Rajiv then worked in Marketing and Sales from 2000 to 2005. He has been a member of the board of directors since March 2002 and was first appointed as the Managing Director in April 2005.
As the Managing Director of Bajaj Auto, Rajiv has been focused on helping the company become one of the world’s leading motorcycle and electric vehicle manufacturers. He has also been associated with Bajaj Holdings and Investment, Bajaj Finserv, and Bajaj Finance Limited.
With the reappointment, Bajaj Auto has also announced a fund infusion of ₹1,500 crore into its wholly-owned subsidiary, Bajaj Auto Credit Limited (BACL). Through this investment, the company aims to support BACL’s projected growth in assets under management (AUM) for the financial year 2025-26. The funds will be distributed in installments and may be in equity capital, preference capital, or subordinated debt.
The board of directors of Bajaj Auto has also approved the reappointment of Olympic gold medallist Abhinav Bindra as a non-executive independent director. This will be the Olympian’s second five-year term, effective from May 20, 2025.
