Electronic retailer Croma, part of Infiniti Retail, has announced the appointment of Shibashish Roy as its Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Managing Director, effective April 1, 2025.

Roy was given the role of CEO in November 2024, and he worked hard for five months to smoothly transition to the role of Managing Director. He was aided in the endeavor by Avijit Mitra, the outgoing Managing Director of Croma.

“Shibashish has been transitioning into the role of CEO & MD over the past five months, following the succession plan announced late last year… I am certain Shibashish’s digital-first approach and passion for customer engagement will drive Croma to great heights and look forward to working with him,” Naveen Tahilyani, the Chairman of Infiniti Retail, shared.

Croma has also expressed its gratitude for Mitra’s contributions to the company. “Mr. Avijit Mitra, who retires as the Managing Director on March 31, 2025, was part of the founding team of Croma and grew it from inception to its current network of 560+ stores. He superannuates after an enriching career spanning more than 35 years in the Tata Group,” the company stated in a LinkedIn post.

Roy’s association with Croma started in August 2021, when he was made the company’s Chief Business Officer for e-commerce and Marketing. In March 2023, he was appointed Chief Operating Officer and was then made the Deputy CEO in February 2024. Since May 2006, Roy has retained the position of TAS Manager for Tata Administrative Services. Croma is a part of the Tata Group, and Roy has been associated with it for over two decades.

The association between Roy and the Tata Group began in 2003 when he joined Tata Steel as a Project Trainee. In June 2004, he joined Tata Motors as a Manager and remained there until May 2006. He became the Associate Vice President for Wealth Management with Tata Capital in July 2007. Roy remained with the company until May 2014, having achieved the ranks of Deputy Vice President for Business Development and Assistant Vice President for Investment Banking.

In May 2014, Roy became the General Manager for Strategy and a part of the Office of the Group Executive Council for Tata Sons. The longtime Tata employee remained with the company until August 2021, when he left the position of Vice President for Group Digital. Prior to Tata, Roy worked as an Engineer for Voltas from April 2002 to July 2002.
