Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has announced the appointment of Sudeep Kunnumal as its Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO), effective March 14, 2025.

Kunnumal joined TCS in September 2000 as a Human Resources Manager and has since continued to climb the corporate ladder. Thanks to his dedication and hard work, he has had the opportunity to work within India as well as overseas. In his tenure of nearly 25 years with TCS, he has worked in the USA, the Netherlands, Singapore, as well as the Indian cities of Chennai and Mumbai.

In December 2019, Kunnumal became the position of Global Head of Human Resources for the banking, financial services, and insurance sectors of TCS. Prior to his time with TCS, Kunnumal worked with Petro Araldite and Indo Matsushita Appliances Company.

“In all his [Kunnumal’s] roles, one of his top priorities has been to build compelling value propositions to attract and retain top-tier talent, positioning the company as an employer of choice and bridging the gap between academia and industry,” TCS stated in its filing with Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) that announced the appointment of the new CHRO.

Kunnumal is replacing Milind Lakkad as the new CEO of TCS. Lakkad has been with TCS since 1987, when he joined the company as a trainee. He became the head of the Manufacturing Practice in 2006, followed by his appointment as the head of the Manufacturing Business Group in 2008. In May 2019, Lakkad became the Executive Vice President and CEO of TCS, becoming responsible for the HR needs of over 6 lakh TCS employees.
