Honda Cars India Limited (HCIL) has appointed Takashi Nakajima as its President and CEO. The change will come into effect on April 1, 2025. The appointment was announced as a part of Honda’s annual announcement of management changes.

Nakajima has been a part of the Honda Group since 1994. During his time with the company, he has held various positions of responsibility and has worked in countries like Japan, China, Spain, Czech Republic, and Russia.

A long-time Honda employee, Nakajima, has been the President of Honda Motor Russia since 2021. Recently, he also led the Marketing and Corporate Communication for Product Planning operations for Honda’s automobile brand in Japan. With Nakajima at the helm, HCIL will look forward to his expertise in business planning, product planning, marketing, and sales promotion.

Nakajima will be replacing Takuya Tsumura, who held the position for three years, and will be moving back to Japan to join Honda’s main office.

“During his successful 3-year tenure in India, Mr. Takuya Tsumura was instrumental in fortifying the premium brand positioning of Honda in India, strengthening customer centric solutions, and driving company’s profitable growth,” HCIL stated in their announcement.

HCIL also highlighted Tsumara’s contribution to the growth in company’s export business and his focus on new age communication. “In his role, he emphasized on achieving operational efficiencies at company and dealership level and led several initiatives in the field of sales and service to enhance customer experience and dealer profitability,” HCIL went on to add.
