State Bank of India (SBI) announced that it has hired 13,455 junior associates with the purpose of enhancing customer experiences across branches.
As per an SBI statement, the recruitment aimed to fill vacancies across 35 states and Union Territories in India, making it one of the significant hiring efforts in the industry.
The selection process for these roles started in February and March 2025 with preliminary examinations. Those who cleared this set of exams went on to attend the main examinations conducted in April 2025.
The bank’s statement highlighted that the 13,455 candidates were selected after a rigorous and transparent evaluation. As per SBI Chairman C S Setty, SBI’s total recruitment count is around 18,000, out of which 13,500 will be clerical recruitment, 3,000 will be probationary officers and local-based officers.
“As we onboard this new talent pool, we further aim to strengthen our human resource capabilities by implementing structured skill development programmes aligned with evolving functional and technological requirements,” Setty said.
With a workforce comprising over 2,36,000 employees, SBI remains a huge presence in India’s banking sector and is committed to creating meaningful employment and nurturing the next generation of banking professionals.
