Tech giant Infosys is introducing changes to its attendance system in a bid to effectively implement its 10-day work-from-office policy.

As per the Economic Times, the company’s administration sent an email to its functional heads asking them to limit the work-from-home days. Currently, Infosys employees use a mobile application to request work-from-home days. The email stated that the application will stop accepting these requests by default starting on March 10, 2025.

“To support this, starting March 10, 2025, system interventions will be implemented to limit the number of work-from-home days that can be applied each month. These measures are designed to ensure compliance with the new hybrid work requirements while maintaining flexibility for employees,” Infosys explained in the email.

As per the new changes, employees will have to punch in their presence at their designated office locations at least 10 days out of a month. The new mandate applies to Infosys employees at Job Level (JL) 5 or below. This includes team leaders, software engineers, senior engineers, system engineers, and consultants.

“As you know, our hybrid work model expects employees to work from the office for at least 10 days a month, or as per business requirements, whichever is higher,” the email stated further. The changes will not be applicable to those working at JL6 or higher, which includes managers, senior managers, delivery managers, and senior delivery managers, but not vice presidents.

The new work-from-home policy from Infosys will affect around 3.23 lakh of its employees, many of whom have expressed their dissatisfaction with the change. Some employees have stated that the time spent commuting to and from the office does not seem productive. Others believe that working from the office should depend on project requirements rather than unit requirements.
