Global technology giant Cognizant has announced its plan to set up a 14-acre Cognizant Immersive Learning Center (CILC) on its Siruseri campus in Chennai. Having always been open about its desire to help its employees grow, the proposed learning center will hopefully train 1 lakh individual every year.
Part of Cognizant’s 50-acre Siruseri campus, the new CILC will have 14,000 seats, smart classrooms, incubator hubs, client experience spaces, and design thinking centers, along with residential accommodations and well-being facilities. Through its hub-and-spoke model, the center will also act as a pillar for similar establishments located in Hyderabad, Pune, Kochi, and Coimbatore.
“The Siruseri learning center will further advance Cognizant’s award-winning learning and development ecosystem, integrating cutting-edge infrastructure with immersive learning, advanced AI-skilling, executive leadership and consulting programs,” Cognizant stated in its press release regarding the new CILC.
“The capabilities to excel in an AI-driven world will differentiate the leaders from the followers,” said Ravi Kumar S, CEO of Cognizant. “Our new state-of-the-art centers will power new skills and our culture of continuous learning, enabling our people to drive business impact for enterprises globally.”
The new CILC will be the primary training center for the company’s graduate program and will feature boot camps for freshers. It will also be a collaborative space for technology partners, academia, clients, and communities, allowing them to participate in innovative research and learning programs and contribute to industry advancements.
The new CILC is the latest move by the company to bolster its training and development program. Over 70% of the company’s 3,36,800 employees are based in India. As such, Cognizant has a strong presence in the cities of Bengaluru, Bhubaneswar, Chennai, Coimbatore, Delhi-NCR, Hyderabad, Indore, Kochi, Kolkata, Mangaluru, Mumbai, and Pune. Hence, its focus on upskilling Indian talent, particularly in Artificial Intelligence (AI), comes as no surprise.
“In 2024, Cognizant empowered nearly 277,000 associates through its learning ecosystem, with 168,000 completing a GenAI course. To date, more than 220,000 associates have been upskilled in GenAI,” Cognizant revealed in the press release.
