IT giant Infosys has laid off another 195 trainees, as per Moneycontrol. This comes only days after the last batch of 240 trainees who were let go on April 18, 2025.
In an internal email sent out on April 29, 2025, Infosys cited the trainees’ inability to clear internal assessments.
“Further to the announcement of the results of your final assessment attempt, please be informed that you have not met the qualifying criteria in the ‘Generic foundation training program’ despite the additional preparation time, doubt-clearing sessions, several mock assessments and three attempts. As a result, you will not be able to continue your journey for the apprenticeship program,” Infosys stated in its email to its trainees.
Combined with the earlier layoffs in February and March of this year, Infosys has fired around 800 trainees since the start of 2025. Similar to the previous rounds of trainee layoffs, the company has offered free upskilling programs to the 195 trainees to ease their transition. As per reports, 250 of the fired trainees have enrolled in upskilling programs from UpGrad and NIIT, while 150 have registered for outplacement services.
Infosys is also offering the fired trainees the option of training under the Infosys Business Process Management (BPM) program. The option of the 12-week-long training course has been offered to those who were onboarded after 2.5 years of delay. According to the company, it will sponsor the training of the trainees not joining the BPM program, along with a one-month ex gratia payment and a relieving letter.
