Delhi Government’s labor department has announced the increase of minimum wages for all skilled and unskilled workers, effective April 1, 2025.
The government increased the wages in October 2024, under the guidance of the Aam Aadmi Party. Since then, the regime has changed, and the new Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) government has decided to increase the wages further.
As per the official statement, the decision to increase the wages comes after asses the All lndia consumer Price Index (AICPI) from July to December, 2024. At 413,42, the AICPI has shown an increase of 11.32 points. As such, the government has increased the dearness allowance to offset the increasing inflation.
For workers belonging to different categories and roles, the new minimum wages are as follows:

“This increase in wages will not only neutralise the inflation rate but also provide relief to a large number of workers working in Delhi,” the wage increase order stated.
Any scheduled worker who is not being paid according to the new wage rate can file a complaint with the Joint Labour Commissioner in their respective district.
