  • A Test Engineer can help reduce costs associated with post-production fixes, recalls, and customer complaints by catching issues early in the manufacturing process.
  • A Test Engineer ensures that products adhere to both internal quality standards and external regulatory requirements which helps in avoiding legal and compliance issues.

Job Description Template

We are looking for a Test Engineer for the technical manufacturing team. You will be responsible for designing and conducting tests on products and systems to ensure they meet quality standards.

In this role, you will collaborate with various departments to identify potential issues, improve product designs, and contribute to overall operational efficiency. This requires proven experience in testing and knowledge of standards like ISO 9001.

Ultimately, you will resolve technical issues in the production cycle and contribute to the overall quality and performance of the product.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop detailed test plans and test cases based on product specifications and requirements.
  • Conduct tests on products or components, including functional, performance, and reliability assessments.
  • Analyze test results and provide clear documentation of findings, including identifying issues, root causes, and possible solutions.
  • Work closely with product design, development, and production teams to ensure early detection and resolution of technical issues.
  • Develop and maintain automated test scripts to streamline testing processes and improve efficiency.
  • Evaluate products against industry standards and regulatory requirements to ensure compliance.
  • Participate in the product design review process to identify potential test challenges early on.
  • Continuously improve testing processes, methodologies, and tools to increase testing efficiency and coverage.
  • Track and report on test progress, issues, and outcomes, ensuring effective communication with stakeholders.
  • Maintain accurate records of test procedures, results, and compliance with quality assurance protocols.
  • Ensure all products are tested to meet the desired quality and performance standards before production or release.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 2-4 years of experience in testing roles within a manufacturing or technical environment.
  • Strong knowledge of product testing methodologies, tools, and industry standards.
  • Familiarity with hardware and software testing processes, depending on the product.
  • Understanding of regulatory standards and compliance for the manufacturing industry (e.g., ISO, CE marking).
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to document findings and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
